the mermaid
i would have been
calm waters
between a rock
and a hard place
a snail’s life
in the woods
as still as the doe
i become
orange seedling
will i live to breathe
your blossoms
a handbell sounds
the name of each hero
memorial day
raindrops on water
i close my window
to the frogs
fingerling
an egret stalks
the shallows
tadpole
the
gravity
of
drought
headlights
a river of stars
between us
isolation
i open the door
to the wind
in a sunny spot
the squirrel unearths
my row of seedlings
late night jazz
the deep blue murmur
of alone
thunderstorm all that lies between us
pond bubbles the mystery of who knows
