winter songbird
again and again
the sun rises
sunflower seeds
a red bird shares
my winter
icy rain
last year’s treefall
warms the sound
a christmas carol
i watch a cobweb
on the radio
a raven glides
between the sound
winter rain
autumn’s end
a bottle of wine
shared with a bee
a moth
in candle wax
early winter
what are fingers
but skin and bones
first cold day
as if sleep
has a chance
mockingbird
quiet river
the sound of alone
after the rain
clouds at dusk
a bullfrog’s voice
one grunt long
fence line
evening’s scent
comes and goes
learning curve
a fish jumps from
another’s mistake
autumn flowers
the muted voices
of everyone else
not quite dawn
until the frog
only me
katydids
the sound of heat
across the fence
morning chores
over and over
a chickadee
where sunset finds
my empty backpack
the grasshopper
only feathers
the last ants
pass on by
the bridge begins to moan
with traffic
a
spent
butterfly
accepts
my
finger
summer’s
end
under a palm
the thought of you
first raindrop
dry days
to hear the river
barely pass
old lace . .
all the tears
in a dream
parting
the water’s darkness
alligator
living
the dream
i wake to rain
rain peepers
the old water wheel turns
for a moment
record heat
day ends with a yawn
full of gnats
between live oaks
through hanging moss
sunset comes
as if queen summer unfolds the day before me

careful not to step

i use my finger
to draw what’s missing
cloudy night
after the storm
rehanging laundry
in rainbows
spring cleaning
the forest so near
yet so far
as she passes
untangling her dewclaw
from the blanket
squirrel proof
how many ways
to try
the shade of dark
that lightens sound
starless night
days of rain
my place among
sounds of water
hiking alone
the brush of wet leaves
on bare skin
a lone dove
at peace in the fog
the sound of mourning
mountains return
a bit softer
playing spoons
i sip an octave
from each glass
rusty nail
time fills emptiness
with cobwebs
quiet shadows
i am but one more
mountain dusk
a feather falls
into green sounds
spring morning
