Haiga/Haiku/Tanka copyright 2011-2023 by Sandi Pray
the shade of dark
that lightens sound
starless night
days of rain
my place among
sounds of water
hiking alone
the brush of wet leaves
on bare skin
a lone dove
at peace in the fog
the sound of mourning
after the storm
mountains return
a bit softer
playing spoons
i sip an octave
from each glass
rusty nail
time fills emptiness
with cobwebs
quiet shadows
i am but one more
mountain dusk
a feather falls
into green sounds
spring morning
from my window
the sculpture of
mating season
startled bobcat
i imagine me
in his eyes
worm on a fence
even after the crow
the worm
last night’s rain
the excited voice
of the creek below
shortcut -
the way of flowers
in the rain
reaching out
the almost there
of an inchworm
cliff’s edge the sound of falling raindrops
planting moon
i am the breeze
passing by
between ravens
a mountain rises
into distant rain
soft, green air
fresh from the valley
a friend’s gift
raindrops
imagining the sound
hot tin roof
snail crossings
my thoughtful steps
up the trail
no words . . today i’ll just be
after the birds
evening allows
a creek to sing
mountain stream
in a pool of sun
a leaf turns
spring
in the wilderness
i can be no one
shades of green
the slow ebb
of my shadow
touching spring
sometimes my hand
is not worthy
every bone of the old cat’s spine wind rippled reeds
feather falling -
i shape my hands
around you
